ZOMG!!

I had a fit of edible inspired madness a few months ago and invited delightful people to Thanksgiving. It’s the first time in ages - 2013 to be exact - that I have cooked this meal for more than 3 people. We moved to Atlanta (& then back), the pandemic, Parents died blah blah blah. I hadn’t done it in so long that I forgot how much work I was getting into.

I must have lost my damn mind.

Immediately before it was time to live at the grocery store to shop for my overly ambitions menu, Mr. Wonderful tore a bicep tendon playing tennis. Cue emergency surgery. He’s going to be fine. However, he’s in a cast/sling combo and is itchy, bitchy and although valiantly trying, of minimal help.

Things I forgot: Although my house is mostly serial killer clean by inclination, inviting 8 adults & one loud 2 year old means I have to really clean more than one bathroom, plus vacuum and dust the dining room and living room, rooms we haven’t used since we moved here. Our family room is covered in Grandson toys, so please don't break your ankle, esp me.

Everything else is more or less ok, which is a relief because Tom just remembered to tell me that his sister is staying for a few days the week after. Nice to know.

Also - DEAR GWAD, how I hate Christmas Carols. THAT WAS ME IN NOISE CANCELLING HEADPHONES at the grocery store because I’m feeling extra murderous whenever I hear Mariah Carey, Bing Crosby or those fucking chipmunks.

My Monkeypants (2 yr old grandson) and I made cookies yesterday. It was so much fun and one cookie later he was orbiting the moon. Then Mom took him home! I did the happy dance when he got here and definitely when he left.

I know tomorrow will be fun. It will all work out, and maybe at the same time. HO HO HO is it over yet?

I'm feeling you. This is my first thanksgiving with family in years (also just no to the holiday music)

Ah, Tennis - I've decided it's a dangerous sport. My parents were avid players - until they banged up so many body parts they couldn't play it any longer. Boss? Also an avid player - until he banged up his knee and hip, and can't play any longer. That and bike riding.

Chipmunks singing Christmas Carols is...just no. I like David Bowie singing it - mainly because he hated Christmas Carols, and was forced to sing one against his will by Bing Crosby.

Good luck and glad the surgery went well and while the timing was bad may the outcome be good.

Tyson and I (plus all the legal assistants at work) all agree that Christmas music should not be played before December 1st at the earliest, and preferably not until the week before Christmas, if then.
